About Jason

Jason Brown has been a gigging guitarist since 1986. During that time he has performed extensively on the live circuit throughout Britain, Ireland and Europe and released a wide range of recordings in diverse styles including indie, garage, rock and deep house/jazz.

Alongside his private guitar practice Jason has lectured in the Further and Higher Education sectors. From 1996 - 2009 he was programme leader for courses in popular music at National Diploma and HNC/D level at City College Manchester (now The Manchester College). Jason has examined for the Registry of Guitar Tutors and currently examines for the Rockschool examination board.

Jason has been directly involved in programme design at Further and Higher Education level writing and co-writing modules including Music Language, Music Performance, Composition and Instrumental Tuition. Jason also authored some chapters in the open learning workbooks used on the government’s New Deal For Musicians programme run by Armstrong Learning. Jason was also an advisor on the London College of Music’s Popular Music Theory graded syllabus where many of his recommendations were integrated into the syllabus design.

Jason is also a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Neuro-Linguistic Programming practitioner where he specialises in conquering performance anxiety in musicians. These advanced psychological techniques are seamlessly integrated into Jason’s teaching style.

Jason is CRB checked and has current public liability insurance.
